The wind picks up, tugging the ship along a little faster across the waves of the Eastern Sea. High overhead, a black winged figure circles. With very little preamble the bird-like creature dives, cutting through the air between it and the ship. Alighting on the edge of the crow’s nest, the Córean cocks its large head to the side to get a better look at you. When he hops down, landing only feet away, you notice a large portion of his head feathers have molted off, revealing a tattoo of a stylized whale. “What are you doing here…? This ship can't be here! Don’t you understand, you’ve ruined everything!”

In a past life, Warrun was a Merrow ranger most familiar with the oceans off Euzoria’s eastern coast. It was there, among the islands and bays, that he met the woman who would one day become his mate. She was a wise Córean druid who taught him the ways of druery and inducted him into the Circle with the rites of fertility. They often mused that—as he was a creature of the water, and she a creature of the sky—they could never truly be together as they wished. Nevertheless, their devotion to one another never strayed since that night.

In time the Merrow ranger was reborn as a Córean himself, and as soon as he awakened to his former life he took the name Warrun, after the sky that once held his beloved closer than he ever could. Soon, he was drawn to his reincarnated mate, now reborn as a whale. The realization that their positions had tragically been exchanged overcame Warrun with a sorrow that has never left his heart since.

Now, many years since his awakening, Warrun seeks to safeguard the eastern seas from any who would defile them. For, if he cannot be with his beloved, he intends at least to ensure that her present home remains as clear and free as the sky that once embraced her.
