:: Random NPC—Oyibo, Leonian Wunderkind ::

Oyibo (“White”)
by Wm Jay Carter III, 6/11/16
a leonian

Race: Leonian
Age: Middle-Aged
Gender: Male
Stature: Tall
Physical: Narrow Shoulders
Outwardly: Enraged
Inwardly: Embarrassed
Profession: Law Enforcement
Magic: Wunderkind—Love/Enmity
Catchphrase: “You dare to enter the den of the Kahina, infidel scum!?”

Entering the forest clearing at last, you cross the threshold between underbrush and polished flagstone. The den of the Kahina spreads out before you in a perfect flat circle. At its center, nearly 50 feet away, a tall leonian male stands, facing away from you. A long, billowing ceremonial cape hangs from his narrow shoulders, as shock white as his albino fur. You take but one more step and his left ear twitches, marking the sound. An instant later a roar rings out across the den and he is upon you in seconds. “You dare enter the den of the Kahina, infidel scum!?” he bellows, bearing down on you, flashing clawed gauntlets of jeweled silver.

When Oyibo was born, his pumani pride saw his albinism as the fulfillment of a prophecy that a “white one” would be the gatekeeper of the den of the Kahina (“Fortuneteller”), the mystic of pride pumani. Since that time Oyibo has lived and studied under the tutelage of the pumani mystic.
Too frail for physical combat, and compassionate to a fault, Oyibo has always struggled with confronting those who trespass in the sacred den set apart for the Kahina. For this reason his meditations focus on feeding his anger and righteous indignation for any who place even a single toe across the boundary. He has been trained to stand perfectly still so as to “feel” his surroundings, and react at the slightest provocation, meeting any guest—welcome or expected—with a feigned attack with his clawed gauntlets.
Though Oyibo has found his enraged outbursts to be effective at scaring away those who have unsavory business in the Kahina’s den, he cannot help but be embarrassed by the rude welcome he is compelled to show even the most benign of parishioners. Nevertheless, those who have business with the Kahina know of Oyibo’s training, and are told to expect this. The proper response is to answer aggression with submission. Only then will the faithful albino allow them to pass and meet with the Kahina.
